The second core committee meeting on 9th March, 2010 witnessed the discussion of core policy issues of Petrotech 2010 in the heart of Delhi’s Shangri-La hotel. Mr. R.S Sharma, CMD, ONGC started the proceedings by welcoming everybody present and stated that the countdown had begun to take Petrotech2010-a biennial prestigious oil and gas event to scale even greater heights. Mr. S Sundareshan, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India who took over the mantle from his predecessor as the Conference Chairman expressed his best wishes to make Petrotech 2010 a success by sorting out all the logistical details.
The round table discussion was followed by a presentation by Mr. A. Kumaria, which was stock taking of what had been achieved so far since the first core committee meeting held on 9th July, 2009 so that the future roadmap could be charted out. He stated that since the approach paper which was presented as early as April 2009, Petrotech 2010 strove to be unique in its approach but global in its vision. Petrotech 2010 would be more youth centric, wider in scope and a green conference by mapping and minimizing the carbon footprints.
Walkathon, students essay and quiz competition along with support from media partners – TOI, NDTV and CNBC TV18 would be the precursor to generate interest about the event amongst the masses. Also this would be the first time that PCRA and WPC Youth Forum would be engaging with Petrotech. The Prime Minister of India and a host of dignitaries from around the world having ensuring their personal participation, Petrotech 2010 promises to be an enriching confluence of intellectuals. Thus with the key policy decisions and planning firmly in place, all that remains is the proper execution and implementation to make Petrotech 2010, a resounding success.
Mrs. J. Peters, Member Secretary, Core Committee presented the vote of thanks for everyone’s esteemed presence and constant support. She expressed confidence that ONGC which had the experience of organizing 5 out of 8 Petrotech conferences held so far would carry forward the tradition to make Petrotech 2010, a hallmark event in the global hydrocarbon industry.
